A Lifetime of Walking Deserves Recognition

Most walkers participate in the optional award program from the International Federation of Popular Sports

The International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV) allows participants to "collect" stamps in logbooks at all events that lead to awards.  Awards fete the number of events accomplished and the lifetime distance accumulated.  The walks must be 5 or 10 kilometers or longer to be successfully logged.

Many events have an optional award

The US FreedomWalk Festival in Arlington, as one of only two walking challenges sanctioned by the International Marching League in the Western Hemisphere, offers its own medal and IML medals for multiple days of 20 kilometers each day.

Many other VVA programs offer an optional patch or other award for doing that one event.  The Williamsburg weekend in December has offered a cutout series of the historic homes for many years.  This on-going annual award series is very popular.

Other walking programs

The Wood 'N Dale Wanderers club sponsors a unique award program for mall walkers participating in the Potomac Mills Milers Club at the local mall in Woodbridge, Va.  This effort supports the mall walkers that range from 5 to 85 years old.  All miles count in this recognition.
